Relevant Coffee



Coffee was first introduced to DR in the early 1800s.  Today Bourbon, Typica, Caturra, and Maragogype coffee varietals are cultivated.   

In January 2003, Codocafe  inaugurated a five-year, 17 million-euro project funded by the French government. to improve the quality of Dominican coffee and promotion of specialty coffees.Dominican Coffee Beans are grown at reasonablly high altitudes and tended with painstaking care in the shade of banana and rubber trees.  


Growing regions - Cibao Altura, Valdesia & Barahona 

Cup profiles - Rich body, moderate acidity, Cirus, dark chocolate flavours with tobacco hints.


Manually harvested  at an 800-1600 msl.  Harvest periods November to January
